Call for Organisations to apply for funding to help kickstart careers in the arts for Hackney’s young people

Hackney Council is planning Discover Young Hackney- the borough’s annual youth arts and culture initiative to connect young people to opportunities in the arts.

Cultural organisations and artists working in Hackney will have the opportunity to link high quality activities and workshops aimed at local young people aged 13 to 19 which will take place over the summer holidays from August 1 2022 to 1 September 2022.

Programming Brief

Discover Young Hackney will fund organisations directly to deliver a cultural offer as part of the initiative’s month-long programme. Organisations applying must be based in or working in the London Borough of Hackney.

Proposals can be an extension of existing activity to be included under the Discover Young Hackney umbrella and should include signposting participants to further opportunities. All workshops programmes should be free or at a low cost.

Applications can be made for awards between £500 and £5,000 and must include participatory and learning outcomes for young people. We expect smaller projects to apply for awards of up to £2,000 and larger projects to apply for between £3,000 and £5,000 to cover costs of projects that focus on the longer term or are led in partnership with other organisations. We also expect all applications to include a minimum match funding of 10% of the overall projects costs, in kind or in cash.

If your organisation is interested in applying, please submit your application by midday on Monday 4th April 2022.

Full information can be found in the guidance document. If you have any queries, please in touch at culture@hackney.gov.uk
