CULTURAL CONTAGION: TIME, BEING & ILL-BEING
Creative health often celebrates the role of arts and culture in supporting wellbeing. But what happens when culture causes ill-being?
What happens when monuments, flags, museums and public spaces don’t foster belonging, but instead carry histories of exclusion, erasure and harm? How do the spaces we move through every day shape our mental health, our sense of self and our ability to belong?
Join ARCH (Advocates for Representation in Creative Health) for a bold conversation exploring how cultural symbols, institutions and environments can both heal and harm.
Together we’ll ask:
How does culture contribute to ill-being?
What are the health consequences of inhabiting spaces that deny, erase or distort your identity?
What responsibility do arts, heritage and creative health organisations have in recognising harm and creating spaces of genuine belonging?

This is an invitation to think differently about cultureβnot only as a source of wellbeing, but as something that can also produce ill-being, and to explore what it takes to create environments where everyone can flourish.
