Save the Last Dance for Me (SLDM) Project Dissemination Event

In 2022, Creative Dementia Arts Network, (CDAN) who use arts to engage with people living with dementia and Fusion Arts, who work primarily with young people, collaborated on the Save the Last Dance for Me (SLDM) project which aimed to promote intergenerational understanding. Specific objectives were to increase understanding of old age and dementia amongst younger people and understanding of youth by older people.

Opportunities were provided for participants, some of whom were aged 10 and some 85+ years old, to develop their ideas about age, memory and dementia, through arts, music and writing. Sessions for young people were led by an artist, photographer, and creative writing tutors whilst a community musician led reminiscence sessions with older people. The young and older peoples’ groups came together to share their ideas during a creative activities day (including a T dance) and produced a Zine documenting their intergenerational experiences.

The webinar reflects on the project’s achievements, challenges and our learning, inviting attendees to share and exchange their experiences of intergenerational work.

The webinar will take place from 10-11.30am on 7th September 2022 online. Please register via Eventbrite.
