Day 4 of Creativity and Wellbeing week set the tone for the national programme under the theme of Critical Hope for Acute Times. The theme acknowledges the increasing precarity in the health and care sectors including the impending NHS redundancies, ongoing instability in funding for Creative Health and the rising pressures linked to planetary health and climate change.Â
On day 4 we were joined by three research leaders from the field to find out more about their approaches to researching with communities, around themes of Climate Change, Planetary Health and Creative Health.
Context
Thanks to National Lottery players, a new London Mental Health and Climate Coalition “ClimateKind” from Thrive LDN will work over three years to support Londoners in tackling climate change while also improving their mental health.
London Arts and Health is excited to be involved in this project, which will seek to help communities create local climate solutions, develop policies that combine mental health and climate action, and build infrastructure for ongoing efforts and lasting impact.
Programmes of work that LAH will contribute to include:
- Mapping Creative Health assets related to Climate Change and Mental Health;
- Commissioning projects as part of Creativity and Wellbeing Week;
- Training and advocating for policy change.
As part of our activities, we are really interested in hearing from the Creative Health sector about their work, projects or places that explore the intersections of Climate Change and Mental Health.
This event was a chance for cutting edge researchers across our sector to share their research areas, and how this is influencing policy and practice in the wider Creative Health Sector.
