Reflecting Value – call out for a co-created episode

We’re producing our next series of Reflecting Value – our popular podcast that asks the big questions relating to cultural value in a reflective space.

Hosted by Dr Robyn Dowlen, Reflecting Value shares the successes and challenges of communicating cultural value, bringing together a range of thought-provoking contributors for discussion and reflection.

Our second series is focusing on the ways in which cultural participation is evolving and adapting. We are exploring questions such as:

  • How does digital technology help cultural organisations to engage with new audiences?
  • What is the role of video gaming in creating safe spaces for marginalised communities?
  • How do we address potential power imbalances between cultural participants, organisations and funders?

What we are looking for

We’re looking for an individual or organisation to co-create an episode with us, which is centred on the ways in which people have engaged with creativity and culture during the pandemic, and how this has been captured. We want to centre participant voices within this episode, and hear how people have been recording, reflecting and sharing their pandemic experiences creatively.  This co-created approach  is inspired by episode 4 of our first series ‘From where we stand’, where we handed over the hosting and curation of the episode – have a listen here.

We invite you to bring together voices that you think would be best to speak on this topic area, and we will support the production of a one-off recorded discussion which will form the basis of the episode.

Once we have selected the co-creation partner, we will kick off the process with a discussion on the afternoon of 6 December to explore your ideas for the episode and agree on the format, guests and date for recording.

Date of recording: January 2022
Fee: £750

How to express your interest

Please submit a short voice recording to ccv@leeds.ac.uk telling us how you would approach the episode and who you would include. You might want to consider the following:

  • Your vision for the episode
  • Whose voices you would include
  • How the discussion would be planned, structured and facilitated
  • How you would allocate the fee*

*Please note we would expect participants in the podcast to be paid for their time.
