Thriving Communities Babies, Children and Young People and Social Prescribing webinar

In this webinar we looked at babies, children and young people social prescribing, exploring how an approach of finding what matters to each individual person works for all ages. Social prescribing works for everyone, yet can be considered to be for older people. Our lively discussion proved that’s just not the case.

Speakers were

  • Chair: Esther Watts, Thriving Communities South East Regional Lead, NASP
  • Jules Ford, Senior Lead, Social Prescribing Team, NHS England & NHS Improvement
  • Ellen Buckley, Children’s Services Manager, Barnardo’s North
  • Matt Corder, Director Health & Wellbeing, Active Luton

We explored

  • How the all-age social prescribing offer supports babies, children and young people people
  • How the different age groups are being commissioned for in different places by different funders – this projects featured focusses on 8-18 year olds
  • Information on tools and training for children and young people social prescribers coming from NHSE
  • The role of the VCSE in supporting this work as host organisations for babies, children and young people’s social prescribers
  • The role of community organisations providing activities and services to support them
