Join us for a premier screening of the film Spirals and a live performance of Our New Found Mind.
Two original performances from Brain Odysseys London, a creative company of people living with the effects of stroke or brain injury and arts charity Rosetta Life.
The work is composed by Orlando Gough.
Spirals
A film about the spiral of recovery and the personal journeys we make after stroke. Inspired by the spirals we encounter in everyday life from nature, anatomy and the built environment. This film and original composition was made during the pandemic, together we tested live streaming, blended on and offline collaboration, recording from our homes and gardens and finally coming together at the Camden Roundhouse to walk the spiral together.
Our New Found Mind
A live performance that explores how we piece our lives together after stroke. The challenges are not only psychological and are made more difficult by the hazards of navigating the city.
How do we find the strength to go out? How do we find the resilience to hold onto the belief that we can get better? How do we reshape our minds to make a recovery and how are we different than we were before?
Finally, we explore a crucial and controversial question, are we better people after our brain injury than we were before? Is this possible?
These new works debate some controversial ideas and showcase the creativity of the new and experienced members of Brain Odysseys, the growing creative network of performers with lived experience of brain injury. Join us for conversations after the show.
