Barnet’s new Integrated Care System – public event 21 July

Barnet’s new integrated care system (ICS) came into force at the beginning of July. Find out exactly what this means for you and put your questions to those in charge at a special Healthwatch Barnet public event.
North Central London Integrated Care System (NCL ICS) came into being on 1 July 2022. It brings together local health and care organisations and our five local councils (Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington) to work in joined-up ways to improve health outcomes for residents and tackle inequalities that currently exist.
Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic the NHS learnt lots about how the health and care system can work together to support and care for local communities, but also that more must be done together to tackle significant inequalities across our boroughs.
By uniting as one health and care system for North Central London progress can be faster and more efficient in improving the health of the local population and tackling the inequalities people face in terms of their health outcomes and experience of services.
Amanda Pritchard, NHS chief executive, said: “Integrated care systems have the power to truly transform the way that we care for people up and down the country – not only will the NHS provide care when someone is unwell or has an accident, but alongside our local government partners we must also now play an increasing key role in managing people’s health so that we can catch more killer conditions earlier and save lives.”

Healthwatch Barnet, working in partnership with NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board, is pleased to invite you to an online event to learn about the development of the new Integrated Care System.
The event will take place on Microsoft Teams from 2.30 – 4.30pm Thursday 21 July.
We’re delighted that speakers will include Colette Wood, Director of Integration, Barnet, and Martin Emery, Senior Engagement Manager, North Central London ICB.
In the second half of our session, there will be a chance to hear from Conan Cowley, Senior Primary Care Transformation Manager, NCL ICB, with an update on changes to the GP Extended Access Service, ie how you book an appointment outside general working hours.
