Creative Well-being Spring Workshop

April 10, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

£15

Hello Spring! Find calm and connect to your body through guided meditation and embodied art activities in a safe and welcoming space.

About this event

Hello!

I am Sophie, artists and creator of A Held Space, experienced group facilitator, practitioner and trainee art psychotherapist. A Held Space is inspired by the use of art making and mindfulness to tune into how we feel and what we need for our well-being and peace of mind. It is an accessible and supportive space for you take time to care for yourself.

Spring is a time of unfurling and waking up, creating a sense of light and playfulness after the serious heaviness of the dark, cold Winter season.

Immerse yourself into the qualities of Springtime with this nurturing and relaxed creative well-being workshop in a welcoming and accessible environment. Come together in connection with others to loosen up and explore with art.

We will begin with guided grounding exercises involving mindfulness meditation and gentle movement to find calm, space and drop into your body.

We will then introduce the art materials through art-making space for you to create in any way you choose around the theme of Spring time, with some relaxing music and myself on hand to support you.

We will then come back together as a group to witness each other, with the opportunity to share in a safe space.

More Info…

All art materials are provided but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. Just bring yourself and an open mind. It might be nice to wear clothes that feel comfy, unrestrictive and allow you to move should you and your body want to. I’ll likely be there in my joggers.

More info about the venue and how to get there can be found here: https://wycombeartscentre.com/plan-your-visit/

Is it right for me?

  • No arts experience necessary! This workshop is all about loosening up and exploring how it feels to use the materials rather than striving for fancy, aesthetic art pieces.
  • I encourage personal choice in all my workshops. This means doing what feels right for you – even if that is something different to the activities I am guiding you through. Follow your own flow – you will not be told to do anything that doesn’t feel right for you.
  • Meditation…mindfulness…for some, these can be scary or alienating words! My guided meditations invite you to slow down, find calm and get into your body. It doesn’t mean sitting very still and trying really hard to turn off your brain. Again, you will be invited to do what feels right for you.

Disclaimer:

This workshop acknowledges you as the expert of your own life and needs, and emphasises personal choice in everything we do. A Held Space aims to create a safe space for you to feel whatever comes up for you. Participating in exercises using mindfulness, meditation and art-making can naturally uncover emotions that may be stored in your body. Emotions may be unexpected or feel difficult to experience. A Held Space aims to create an environment that feels nurturing and supportive, and has a duty towards the group as a whole. We ask that each participant is personally responsible for their own safety and well-being in the workshop. An awareness of and responsibility over yourself and your bodies’ needs is required to keep the space safe for everyone – including you. Please consider how you may take care yourself after the workshop in case any difficult emotions arise for you. By participating in this workshop you understand these potential risks, ensure you are able to take responsibility for your own safety and respect the group setting.
