Culturally Responsive Creative Health Delivery

April 20, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

£40

Part of a series of online learning workshops exploring elements of training & professional development for creative health practitioners.

About this event

Workshop Theme: Culturally Responsive Creative Health Delivery

Workshop Leader: Julia Puebla Fortier, AHSW Research Associate

Ethnically diverse communities have rich cultural assets that have long supported health and wellbeing, although they may not be labelled specifically as arts and health. Many creative health practitioners would like to make their practices more culturally responsive. How can health, creative health, and diverse community practitioners come together to enhance access to cultural activities that will support health, wellbeing, and engagement?

This workshop will create a supportive space to discuss different approaches, challenges and possible solutions, drawing on model programmes and the experiences of different practitioners. We’ll look at:

• Understanding your community’s diversity, health and wellbeing needs, and cultural assets

• How creative health activities can be coproduced to address diverse needs and interests

• Developing relationships with community partners, and diversifying the creative health workforce

Creative Health Learning Alliance Collaborative Learning Workshops – General Information

All of our Collaborative Learning Workshops offer a collaborative learning environment where participants will:

• Learn about current issues and models from practicing experts and researchers

• Discuss experiences with other practitioners and be invited to share models and resources

• Inform their own practice with shared knowledge, techniques and resources

• Contribute to future learning opportunities and guidance for the field

Workshops are held on Zoom, and are open to anyone who would like to join regardless of location. Most workshops include a panel discussion and Q&A with invited practitioners/experts . We then use breakout groups and group discussions and include creative learning exercises when appropriate.

Tickets

This is part of a series of online learning workshops exploring elements of training and professional development for creative health practitioners. Bursary Places

Please note we are moving from our previous ‘Pay What you Can’ model to a fixed rate fee per workshop, and a discounted rate for booking three workshops. However, if you think you would really benefit from this workshop but cannot afford the fees, we are offering 5 free bursary places per session. Because of the demand for these places, we do ask people in full time work to ask their employer to help cover the cost of their attendance before applying for a bursary. We prioritise allocation of bursary places to freelancers and those out of work or on benefits. To find out about the bursaries, please email AHSW General Manager Hannah on info[at]ahsw.org.uk.

Access requirements can be noted via the eventbrite order form, but we can also assess needs on an individual basis, and would be happy to talk to you about how we can best support you including (but not limited to) any of the following:

• Sensory needs: e.g. subtitles, audio description, translation

• Learning needs: e.g. more time left in between discussions

• Social/mental health needs: e.g. particular triggers.

If you have any questions prior to the event, or any specific access requirements please contact AHSW General Manager Hannah on info[at]ahsw.org.uk.
