Introduction to Forum Theatre
May 15
£75 – £200Introduction to Forum Theatre
This practical workshop on Theatre of the Oppressed and Forum Theatre is led by Angela El-Zeind; an experienced Applied Theatre facilitator and creative director of Speak Up! Act Out!
Over two days you will gain a deep understanding of the aims and methods of Theatre of the Oppressed, and the groundbreaking techniques of Augusto Boal. Through the use of games, activities, improvisation, and devising techniques, you will learn the processes of creating a forum theatre piece, and will have the opportunity to explore various roles in forum theatre, such as, oppressors, oppressed, bystanders, and allies.
This intensive workshop is ideal for both actors and non-actors who are curious about using theatre for social impact. It is essential for practitioners, activists, educators, community workers, and engineers of positive change, who want to learn about creating spaces where activism and theatre can meet.
