Maintaining healthy boundaries when working with young people

November 30, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

£15.78

Do you work directly with young people in your museum and want to find out how to create a safe and supportive environment for both participants and staff?

About this event

COVID-19 has had an impact on everyone’s wellbeing, but we know young people have been especially affected. For example, a Young Minds survey from early 2022 shows more than 50% of young people (16-24) are worried about their mental health in the year ahead.

The heritage sector is starting to recognise that to provide supportive and safe environments for the young people they work with, organisations need to support their staff to create and maintain healthy boundaries with participants.

The workshop will help museum staff to:

  • learn top tips for creating and maintaining boundaries that can provide a supportive and safe environment for participants
  • share challenges that are specific to your own setting and explore ways to overcome them with the trainer and your peers.
About the trainers

This session will be led by Ali Coles, Art Psychotherapist for Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust and visiting Lecturer on the MA Art Psychotherapy course at the University of South Wales.

She will be joined by chair Thanh Sinden who is Founder and Director of Hoa Lotus, chief advisor and coach. She works with organisations who want to develop Equality, Diversity and Inclusion awareness, create a culture of respect for every individual, and develop a positive impact for audiences and communities.

This session will be delivered virtually over one and a half hours in partnership with the Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance.
