Mental Health First Aid Training for Creative Health Sector

We are seeking to support 25 artist/practitioner/creative health workers from London to attend a free half-day training in mental health first aid.

The training will be delivered in conjunction with Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England and will be a space to explore:

  • An understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma;
  • A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues;
  • An introduction to looking after their own mental health and maintaining wellbeing;
  • Confidence to offer support to someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue.

All in the context of being in a cohort with other Creative Health practitioners.

The Offer

We are seeking to support 25 artist/practitioner/creative health workers from London to attend a half-day training in mental health first aid.

We are committed to ensuring that 50% of places are offered to artist/practitioners who might identify as one or more of the following:

  • ethnically diverse;
  • freelance, or on low/no income;
  • disabled or who have a long-term illness;
  • neurodiverse;
  • from London.

The training will take place in person at City Hall, Newham. City Hall is accessible. We can also make accommodations such as note-taking for you in the session, please let us know any access requirements you might have.

Artist/practitioners/workers in the sector with any kind of Creative Health practice are welcome to apply.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply you must:

  • Be an artist/creative health practitioner living and working in London;
  • We will prioritise 50% of the spaces for: ethnically diverse, freelance, or on low/no income, disabled or who have a long-term illness, and neurodiverse practitioners;
  • Please note: 3-5 of the places will be given to those in Arts Council England priority boroughs: Brent, Barking and Dagenham, Croydon, Enfield and Newham.
  • Be aged 18+.
