About this event

The Big Draw x Jennifer Lauren Gallery are excited to bring you a number of creative Sunday sessions throughout the Autumn season. Come join artist Terence Wilde for a 1.5-hour black and white workshop exploring mark making onto handmade paper concertinas

After selecting a word based on an emotion or feeling, you will then begin to use your new techniques learnt, to develop a larger work on paper to include different marks, words/poetry, and other characters or figures if desired. Be inspired by Terence’s autobiographical works and see where your mind takes you during this workshop!

You will need:

Paper / Something to Draw on

Black Pen/Biro, Pencils, Markers

These sessions will be held on Zoom and additional ticket information will be emailed to you separatelyeing. We use the Zoom webinar format so you will not appear on screen but we will record these sessions and send attendees a replay of the event.

Terence Wilde draws on his own mental health journey, from the perspective of an adult survivor, in all his black and white works. Working mainly in pen drawing or ceramic, Wilde describes his works as responses to different periods in his life and personal situations. They show struggles, fears and dreams, and help Wilde to heal and to make sense of his life at any given time.

Monochromatic Minds: Lines of Revelation was the largest ever exhibition of self-taught, disabled and outsider artists from around the world, featuring black and white art through a variety of mediums including drawing, ceramics and textiles. Featuring many previously unseen works from 61 artists, this exhibition brought together emerging artists alongside established outsider artists – artists who create work outside the artistic mainstream field, often by force of internal promptings and with culture not affecting their work.

These upcoming workshops are based around the artists in this exhibition or themes that strongly came through. Book onto one or all four, and enjoy time being creative to lift your spirits and improve your mental wellbeing.

Jennifer Lauren Gallery is a highly respected UK-based gallery that champions, exhibits and shares voices from international self-taught, disabled, neurodivergent and overlooked artists who create works outside the mainstream art world and art history.
