Learn how to draw portraits by taking simple measurements, understanding perspective and learning the ‘value’ in shading.

The workshop is aimed at complimenting the national design and technology curriculum so would be suitable for those who are studying drawing in school or college, those with a keen interest in drawing and those who would simply like to enhance their skills. As such the workshops are suitable for those aged 11 -18.

Participants can be expected to be guided through the fundamentals of facial proportions, simple line drawing and the ‘value’ of shading. Upon completion of the workshop you will have created your own self portrait, or a sketch of someone you know or admire. Others may be interested in bringing to life a face they have only imagined. The event aims to enhance participants’ skills in drawing facial features and their ability to portray the character of their subject.

Historically, portraits depicted the rich and/or the famous. Thank goodness times have changed! Come along and create your own masterpiece.

All materials will be provided for you

Claudette of Udette Arts has exhibited portraits in a range of venues from The Old Town Hall Stratford, to Burgh House Hampstead. She is a qualified and experienced teacher and a featured Arts Council Accelerator Artist. She specialises in expressive portraiture with the knowledge that a creative mind can guide a pencil across paper to produce the most wonderous images.
