Shared Harmonies CIC warmly invite you to join us for an introduction to our singing for wellbeing work and the launch of The Song Book

Participants will get the opportunity to hear about the learning from Shared Harmonies’ Diversity and dementia project, explore benefits, barriers, enablers and real life experiences through guest speakers and panel discussions. There will also be practical demonstrations and sharing of resources to enable participants to use the learning and songs within their own practice. We will welcome input, ideas and questions.

Shared Harmonies CIC is an award winning social enterprise delivering singing and development services for companies and communities. 

Founded in 2013, Shared Harmonies specialises in delivering services for people living with long term health & wellbeing conditions including Parkinson’s, respiratory conditions, poor mental health, dementia and Long Covid. Shared Harmonies also delivers transformative services for organisations, developing team cohesion and effective leadership.

Shared Harmonies’ Diversity and dementia project was generously funded by the Paul and Nick Harvey Fund. It was devised in partnership with So Many Beauties, a pioneering music and dementia initiative funded by Arts Council England.

Our project explored the barriers and enablers for people to access culturally appropriate dementia support. It enabled us to increase diversity in our staff team through the recruitment of trainees and collaborate with different organisations in exciting new ways. 

This event will be of interest to;

• organisations and individuals delivering dementia support services who are interested in using singing and creativity and/or in diversifying their offer for people from different ethnic backgrounds
• family carers who have an interest in how singing can support communication, socialisation and agency for people living with dementia
• practitioners who lead singing groups for people living with dementia and other health conditions who are interested in diversifying their offer
• musicians who already work in health and social care settings who are interested in new repertoire 
• musicians who are considering working in health and social care settings
