Trailblazing Women – Nomination Form

This winter, Xenia embarks upon a journey to explore untold women’s stories in Hackney. Help us create a walking trail/map of stories so that more people can find out about the fantastic women living and working in the borough!

We are particularly interested in finding out about everyday women, including migrant, refugee, asylum seeking, LGBTQ+ and disabled women and women’s organisations whose stories and achievements are often missing from our public spaces.

Please answer the questions below to nominate a Hackney woman or women’s organisation/team/project to be included in our trail. To be eligible for inclusion, your nominee should live, work, study, or volunteer in Hackney, or have done so in the past and they could be from Hackney’s history or present. If you identify as a woman, you are also welcome to nominate yourself. If you would like to nominate more than one person/organisation, please submit a separate form for each person/organisation.

You can also submit your nomination in audio or video format at the bottom of the form.

We will only use your contact details for the purposes specified in the form.

About Xenia

Xenia is a small women’s charity that brings together women from different backgrounds to connect, share and learn. At our weekly conversation and creative workshops in Hackney we welcome refugee, migrant, asylum seeking and British women, using Xenia sessions as a time to find out about each other’s cultures, experiences and perspectives through friendship and shared learning. Our sessions are often based at heritage venues and museums, most regularly at Hackney Museum and Newington Green Meeting House, using the objects and stories from our shared history to help us connect with each other and the history of our area. For more information about Xenia and our work or to join a session, please visit our website www.xenia.org.uk.

The Trailblazing Women project is supported by the Mayor of London’s Untold Stories grant.
