The Stuart Low Trust’s New Art Project: Conservation for Wellbeing

Experience Conservation and Care of Archive Collections

SLT is delighted to announce a new Arts project ‘Conservation for Wellbeing’, run in partnership with London Metropolitan Archives (LMA), and Restoration Trust (RT) .

Together we are piloting a series of sessions in June and July 2022 exclusively for SLT participants. It is free to attend.

Conservation for Wellbeing is a project that combines conservation, archives and mental health. As well as practising conservation, participants will gain behind-the-scenes knowledge of how heritage collections are protected and cared for at London Metropolitan Archives (LMA).

Using original archives from St Luke’s Hospital in Islington, (founded in 1751 to look after people with mental health issues, and closed in 2011), this exclusive C4W programme is a completely new way to engage people living with mental health problems, with heritage and creativity.

Join us and a welcoming group at LMA and have the opportunity to take part in conservation activities, including cleaning heritage material and making protective boxes.

These are free, face-to-face creative, wellbeing workshops funded by City Bridge Trust and supported by LMA.

Booking Essential. Places are limited.

To book, please email info@slt.org.uk or call 020 7713 9304.
